Autumn songs & rhymes

Updated: Oct 10, 2019

Gentle Days

Here is a tree in the Autumn sun, its leaves turning golden and crimson and brown

Here are the leaves, falling, falling, slowly falling down to the ground.

Here is the wind that whistles and sings and chases the leaves around and around

And here are the children who run through the leaves and listen to hear the whispering rustling sounds sh sh sh sh

Shall we play at peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo?

Shall we play at peek-a-boo? play a game with me.

Peep in, peep out, peep in, peep out

Shall we play at peek-a-boo? Play a game with me.

The little winds whisper, they whisper as they pass

They tell their tiny secrets to the flowers and the grass

The big winds bluster, and buffet all about

The little winds whisper and the big winds shout!

The apples are green, the apples are red,

they hang so high above my head,

leave them along till autumn weather

and they will all fall down together.

Ma ma moh, ma ma moh, great big toe

Ma mam mo, ma ma moh, little toe

Ma ma me, ma ma me, roly knee

Ma ma mummy, ma ma mummy, nice round tummy

Ma ma moh, ma ma moh, love you so!

Up dup dup dup dup

Zup zup zup zup-a-lein zup

Hey hey shoom shay, shoom shay

Mummy loves (child's name), yes she does

Daddy loves (child's name), yes he does

Granny loves (child's name), Grandpa does too

We all love (child's name), yes we do.

Cushlamochree, ah cushlamochree

Will you dance with the stars?

Will you play with the sea?

Will you swim with the whale?

Will you follow the sun?

Ah cushlamochree, has your dreaming begun?

Down goes the signal (travelling song)

Down goes the signal

All aboard the chuff chuff

Chang a–lang a-lang a-langa a-lang

Goes the bell.

People come a-hurrying

Bang go the doors

And click go the keys

As they lock them up well.

Fee goes the whistle

And waggle goes the flag

And choo says the engine

Choo choo chuff

Choo, rumble rumble rumble

Choo, rumble rumble rumble

Clatter bang rumble

As the train moves off.

I am enough , you are enough , we are all of us we are enough

I am made of light , you are made of light , we are all of us we are made of light

I am made of love , you are made of love , we are all of us we are made of love

I have a basket, and here's the reason why, I'm picking blackberries to bake in a pie, mix them with apples, put pastry on the top, and if you think it's good enough don't buy one from the shop.

Oats, peas, beans, and barley grow, Oats, peas, beans, and barley grow, Can you or I or anyone know How oats, peas, beans, and barley grow? First the farmer sows his seed, Stands erect and takes his ease, He stamps his foot and claps his hands, And turns around to view his lands.

Chorus Next the farmer waters the seed, Stands erect and takes his ease, He stamps his foot and claps his hands, And turns around to view his lands.

Chorus Next the farmer hoes the weeds, Stands erect and takes his ease, He stamps his foot and claps his hands, And turns around to view his lands. Chorus

Last the farmer harvests his seed, Stands erect and takes his ease, He stamps his foot and claps his hands, And turns around to view his lands.

Chorus

The Trouble with this puddle is its difficult to see ,if it comes up to my ankle or if it comes up to my knee , and if I were to jump in it the chances are I d get a welly full of water and a sock that’s wet!
